building a gaming comp?

ok people im building a gaming computer and i have picked out most of my components if you have any advice on anything i should do diffrent please tell me

EVGA nforce 780i SLI motherboard
intel core 2 quad q6700 2.66 GHz
EVGA geforce 8800 Gt video card one at first adding another later for SLI
Thermaltake shark full tower
Seagate barracuda 7200 500GB hard drive
OCZ SLI ready edition duel channel 800MHz (2x1024mb)
CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX 550W ATX12V V2.2 Power Supply
Creative 70SB046A00000 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series

i was also thinking that i would switch out my motherboard with a ASUS Crosshair ATX AM2 Nforce 590 SLI DDR2 2PCI-E16 PCI-E4 3PCI SATA2 GBLAN 1394 Sound Motherboard and my intel quad for amd quad because ive heard these 2 are better for gaming
 
Everything here in the list looks good but I have a few suggestions. Even though you have went with the Nvidia SLI motherboards and are going to get a Nvidia card to go with it I would recommend looking into ATI cards. The reason I recommend ATI cards over Nvidia is because they are better for gaming. The ATI cards have a much better color display than Nvidia cards and they have a slightly slower graphics processor. This is a good thing because I have noticed that some gaming computers no matter how good they are the graphics processor is too fast for the systems motherboard and makes games lag anyway. Another plus is unlike the SLI system when you combine to ATI cards you can do it with any card. With Nvidia you have to use the exact same card.
 
You well need to upgrade your powersupply if you plan on running TWO graphic cards (for one you are fine).

There are pros and cons of the AMD Qaud Core. They have had problems with them not run as fast as they hope. So far they still are this way. even though AMD does actually have 4 cores (where as the intel is just two dual cores) The Dual core is just a good chip that it still beats out.
AMD doesn't really have any advantage with gaming.
You could also get faster RAM! either 1066 or 1333 Speed RAM!
