Buick Park Avenue CD player gets really hot?

My car is a 98' and the cd player gets really hot after about 30-45 minutes of playing a cd. To cool the player off I would have to put the A/C on and since winter is almost upon us I really don't want to use the A/C. Is this normal in a Park Avenue? If not, what can I do to fix this problem without going to an auto mechanic?
