Buick Century vibrates when accelerating. What do you think is wrong? Any advice?

The front of the car (possibly engine) vibrates when accelerating either in reverse or forwards. It does not vibrate when idle and I can't tell if it does when it just maintains speed. The "service engine soon" light came on almost immediately when pulling out and was blinking until eventually it just stayed on. Color of the light is yellow, not red.

About the car:
99 Buick Century with about 86k miles on it. Have always changed the oil about every 3k miles and did the 60k mile service. Never had this problem previously, from one day to the next I noticed it without warning.

Can anyone guess what causes this? I realize perhaps a million and a half things could be to blame. What would be the best advice to go about fixing this when taking it to a repair shop? Any advice? Thanks.
