Bug Bite and Red Streak

I ran on a trail Saturday and was bitten by a bug on the front of my neck. I am not sure what kind - thinking it may have been a biting fly. Either way, it was just a red bump -- like a mosquito bite. When I woke up Sunday, it had a red streak coming from it - about 3 inches long - going towards my jaw (i.e. upwards). It is a pretty prominant streak and I can't figure if it's a reaction to the bite or something like an infection. It hasn't moved (gotten any longer) from what I can tell. Should I be worried about it? Thanks in advance!
 
I am no expert but I would call ER. A red streak can indicate blood poisoning. My son had a small little bump on his foot. I blew him off but he came back to me a few minutes later and showed me the red streak he had. I took him to ER and was told it was a good thing I brought him as the next day the infection would have spread to his groin and he would be in the hospital on an IV. The only reason I knew about the streak was because I worked in a school health office and this was an issue we dealt with.
