Buell/Ducati Racing

Time for the I'm nominating all the naysayers for TOTM. It's a matter of personal choice. Ducatis in LA are as common as Hondas, so owning the cookie cutter 848/1098/1198 isn't really that big a deal-especially when you consider that the Buell handles better, is cheaper, and you have more exclusivity. Hmm...then there's that thing about maintenance costs. I always find it funny when I'm at the Rock Store and guys will pass a few Ducs and stop to talk about the Buell. You should see the looks on the Ducatisti faces-like someone stole your puppy.

As for it being "ugly," that's a matter of personal choice. Many think they're gorgeous, including people on this board who own them.

Sorry if I'm not a die hard Ducatisti and am just a former 996 owner, but it is what it is. One shouldn't be a BRAND GUY, but you should always open yourself up to buying the best product FOR YOU. If it's a Duc, so be it. If not, oh well...at least you're happy! So please, one and all, stop being such aldarnells and realize that the Buell is a formidable machine- worthy of your respect.

Just to be clear and not starting any shit here but you are saying that all Buells(of which you own 2) handle better than all Ducatis(of which you own 1)?
Or are you saying that your 2 buells handle better than your 999?
Welcome to the forum and I like your desire to bore things out, you rock!

Wecome Jake.

I just got a 1125R myself. I still dont know what to do with it? Its a bit top heavy, and kinda slow after spending so much time on my 1098.

Just to cheap to walk away from. Same thing happend in 05 when I picked up a new 04 RC-51 for 8k. To cheap to pass. Shared time with my 998 for 2 year, then sold it because it did not inspire me like the Duc.

No accounting for taste... Ya-sold the wrong one! Bet you would have kept it if it were an 05-06 all the mods done with Sato Low's CF exhaust PCIII

Welcome back Stim, how was vacation??

Both bikes were stock.
My 1098, not! The 1125 is, so I will give it a go. I hope my wife likes riding it. Lots cheaper than a 1100 Monster.

Fun time on vacation. Hope you can make it next year.

Thanks Johnny. By no means am I agaist Ducati . I own a 999 and love it . Ducati makes a fine quality machine . But so does Buell . My dream machine would be the XB chasis with Ducati motor and Ducati syling . The XB with the harley oil cooled motor are actually better than the 1125 models . I have an Insanely worked XB1420cc factory parts(XBrr spec) Ohlins ect.. The handling on that is WSB class. But with 130lbs of torque corner entry is a bitch .
MY buddy has 1098s just bought a XB12R abnd doing 1420cc but milder cams ect . he got it for handling on track days .

But I am loving thr Ducati for around town corner carving it is great . The Ducati is easier to ride around town than the Buell . And I like the eccentric steering head . Thats a great idea.
Its that hard to adjust?

RC51 . The TOP HEAVY feling is the steep rake angle . The mass in the bike is acually low. A GPR stabilizer does wonders fror that . Gives you the best of both worlds , the quick steering and stability through a corner .( or once you get used to race a geometry you wont notice )My 1125 runs dead even with mike s 1098 because I installed a HPE exhaust(german 1500$ looks/sounds great) and a TWINS (company in Norway) race programed ECM(400$). New the motor is strangled ( epa )

BTW As you have read iVe bought countless bikes to see which ones I would keep in my stable ( ended up with 7, sport bikes , sport touring , cruiser , dual purpose = you get the idea ) BUT I wanted a RC-51 heard they are legendary handlers. All my buddies have differet sportbikes but no RC-51 Dying to ride one

jake,

Really?! Geez! That's a bit harsh. Alvin is our administrator and he's a tolerant man. Buell-loving won't get you booted here, but it will get you teased a bit by some of the guys.
