Buell and the patent issues

Indian has been back, they are pumping out a couple "new models" but I'm sure they will sink in the very near future as well. Good bikes, but too limited product line-up. Low end $27k to the upper 30's and they nearly look alike.

I'm a Chevy guy I only talk shit about Flip Over Read Directions when I was racing and they were my Aim High buddies or Naval buddies. Of course being Army I talk shit about their career choices too. Oh well. Such is life. How the hell I forgot to get in the right forum I dunno....being an Admin on other board I should know these things.

As a Guzzi owner, I know what it's like living with a brand that has been subjected to sell-offs, takeovers and bankruptcy......then again, who cares?

I just won't post threads about it on Ducati forums.

Well, to Ducatify it. What happens when Ducati designers move between companies. MV for example.

As to the original question, that would depend upon the contracts originally drafted when H-D took over Buell. Did Buell keep the patents and allow H-D unlimited access? Or did H-D buy out his individual patents as part of the takeover.

Until you can define exactly what conditions the patents are under, whether they are property of the inventor and Buell/H-D or are sole ownership of H-D, or any one of the other conditions is caused, then the answer is unknown.

Please tell me it's not that gayer than Richard Simmons picking up Brooks in a powder blue Mazda Miata for Margarita's thing I've been seeing pictures of called the FABULOUS??? Ohh, and let's launch this in a recession. History is really on their side. Brilliant.

I'd love to see Buell hook up with Yamaha, things like the cross plane crank show that they're definitely willing to try new things. Even if Yamaha just built a high tech engine for them it would be good.
