I've been reading several boards that talk about the closing of Buell by H-D and in every one of them they talk about H-D owning the patents that Erik submitted.
I have not found a single factual document or statement from either side confirming this (or denying it).
I am wondering if this is not some speculation based off H-D absorbed Buell into a full subsidiary, thus H-D owns through surrogacy the patents that Erik Buell submitted as Inventor, and US Patent office holds owner of Buell Motorcycle Company? I would think that since Eriks father is a patent attorney that the patents would be protected under him, and not legally owned by H-D, but being a poor financial situation long enough, as Buell was for years, it can make a business owner do weird things to save his dream.
If anyone can find confirmation as the truth of this I'd like to know.
Hopefully Erik maintains his patents.
