Buell and MV to be gone

I'm with you on this one BB2,

Never owned one and don't know too much about Buell but I definitely commend them for what the have done or are trying to do Funny, I remember going to an HD dealership and test riding a Blast for a first bike
 
Yes the 08's had a very rough launch, but once the 09's launched, most of the problems were resolved, just like most any other new model regardless of brand...

You can still get a great deal on one of the 09's and probably even more now...but to each there own, you have your reasons as I have my reason to enjoy Buell's...

I've owned a few Buell's in the past and two currently, unfortunately I don't agree with the statement "I doubt I'd ride it much out of fear of it breaking"...The re-call list on the 09 1125 is less than that of the 1098 and as an owner of an 1125CR and R, with over 12K miles since I first purchased it in Oct 08, I've had less problems with it than my brand new 08 1098s which only has 1K miles on it since purchase, four weeks ago...will I get rid of the 1098s, probably not, i like it regardless of its unique quirks...

I'm not trying to convince anyone to believe Buell's are "great" bikes, but I find it hard believe for anyone to dislike anything so much especially if they never had the pleasure to personally experience...

I had the pleasure of owning several Buell's and i can honestly say that "they are great bikes" and they have lots of idea's engineered into them to make others want to follow...but this is only my $0.02

I'm not trying to argue a personal opinion with anyone here, but someone did mention that they almost bought one, which makes me believe they found the bike appealing one way or another...lol

and which companys would you outsource for frames, swingarms and engines, and still keep the bike cost at a reasonable cost? Buell was still a emerging company that had little as far as resources and technology. It is common for small companies to out source until they are established enough to produce parts themselves. For example in the 80's Bimota outsourced there engines from yamaha, suzuki, ducati, etc.., when they finally produced an engine for themselves it bankrupted them. Look how long MV took to produce a decent engine. Right off the bat, rotax was able to produce a very good engine that buell owners were crying for. This didn't mean buell wouldn't produce there own engines in the future.

Sorry but how many italians, or even american ducati owners say fuck ducati they use swedish suspension, or japanese suspension for that matter.
 
Brooks, this is like the third or fourth thread started on the subject. I started the first one when DemonV4 sent me a text this morning.



Tell me about it. Yeah, the 1125R has an Austrian motor and a Showa suspension. So what? It's still built HERE. All the negativity is a joke. Most of these guys have never even ridden an 1125R. If they did, they'd shut the f@#k up in a hurry.



CAT, you should be able to find a sweetheart of a deal. Just to let you know, I got mine with 9 miles on it for only $9k OTD-tax, tag, and title included. Sure, I could have bought an 848 or a 1098...and been bitching about all the shit that goes wrong with them like virtually everyone else on this board. Then I'd start moaning about how DNA voided my warranty for something F@#KING absurd...like everyone else on this board. Instead, I'm riding my trouble free bike and having a great time on it.

As for "fear of it breaking," come on. Yeah, they had recalls on the 2008 models. A first year model, like every other brand, has its share of issues. They were all sorted by 2009 and if you bought a 2008 holdover, the recalls were all done and the bike was set up like...you guessed it...an '09.

I had my 2000 996 for a year and a half. In that time, I spent over $5k in fucking maintenance and repairs. 2 major services, one minor service, new brakes, new tires, new battery, new clutch, new slave, new stator, new chain, new sprocket...shall I go on?

I'll get a Ducati again, but I'll be damned if it'll be an every day ride FOR FEAR OF IT BREAKING. Better still, I'll make sure it's the Hailwood I want or a Sport Classic. 2V bikes are a lot cheaper to maintain.

I think you should stick it out I commend you for being the lone Buell rider on the forum.

I just watched that farewell video on the Buell website. That shit made me sad as fuck! Eric Buell sounded like he was about to cry!

For me, as a motorcycle and powersport designer, I am sad that I have lost an oppurtunity to do work for a company that was willing to take risks. Having worked for several companies, most companies, I assure you would not try such innovative concepts.

What is shocking to me, as an outsider is how many americans on this forum are so appathetic to the demise of your own country. I will be the first to say that I have never really liked HD's, buells I have a soft spot for, but these are unique products from your country, its sad that so many of you are laughing about the downfall of a company that is part of your history, as well as one of your own country men. Further more Id like to remind you that 150 people lost there jobs. 150 AMERICANS lost there jobs.
 
Dude, two things. First, Daledo also has a Buell, so I'm not alone. I am the lone 1125R guy on here, though.

If I knew I could support my family doing so, I'd offer to move and work for Buell if they could keep the company afloat.

I find it F@#KING PATHETIC that a lot of these forum posters are dissing a company that they truly know nothing about...and AMERICAN company that provided AMERICAN jobs.
