Times are tough

Kinda expected.. HD put in for the Obama money and it was refused cause of ownership of MV claiming bailout funds would trickle to MV... So HD dropped MV on the spot.. Buell was also mentioned..

Hey, STY.....did you ever make it to SoCal? Weren't you headed to San Diego for a visit, back in the end of summer??

Yup. Had a ball. Hooked with family in SD, then visit my bud in Phx, then friends in Palm Springs , family in Redlands, then buds in Covina, fam in Laguna Niguel, Dana Point and friends in Newport beach. Then off to Temecula for the wine thing, did the first aid patch up on a guy that low sided the hell out of his R1 on Ortega, then back to San Juan to meet with the CEO of the company I worked for in Irvine. Back to SD for the return.

*Find me a job and we can go riding a lot. I'll maintain your bike for ya as a freebie perk to you.

So what do they have left. An aging demographic that buys their junk in decreasing volume. Yet people age in all markets. It seems they are stuck with the over 40 market niche who abandon smaller bikes in the interest of comfort. May not be a bad thing for HD as that's what they're good at.

As a last ditch effort they funneled a lot of money into Buell to win that hollow championship this year. Too little too late as everyone saw through it as elimination of competition will always provide a win. Sales still tanked due to the economy and buyer resistance to the lack of dealer support, styling etc. They bought MV with the intention to permit closing Buell. Finding that MV is also a debt ridden mess (as if that wasn't obvious to anyone living under a rock) they will close both and will take a nice tax break over the next couple years.
