Bub 7 Quality Problems

I have an 07 Road King Police bike. About two years ago, I paid almost $500 for a set of Bub 7 slip-on mufflers. I had about 5,000 miles on them, when the chrome on the end caps started to blister up and flake off. I called Bub Enterprises and got a run around. Their mufflers are warrantied for only 90 days. The best they would do is offer to sell me a new set of end caps for $175 minus $50 discount, because the only ones they had in stock were scuffed up.
A Rhinehart representative at Sturgis this year said Bub recently lost a contract to make mufflers for Rhinehart, because of quality issues. Has anyone else had problems with Bub exhaust?
I don't know what to do besides trash them and buy a better product from someone else, which I really can't afford. I would appreciate some advice.

I have BUB 7 True Duals on my '08 SG and have not had any quality problems whatsoever. 15k on them.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, if it were me and had gone through your situation I would no longer be a customer.

I was looking at a set of true duals, but my local HD Indy shop talked me out of them because he says they are not the same quality or manufacturer as the ones I should have gotten 4 years ago.

I know the rear pipe on his split.

You could take those tips and sent them to a powder coater.

BUB 7 True Duals '08 SG with 20k with no problems. I did have a similar problem on an '05 RK with HD slip-ons. I went through 2 sets of end caps under warranty. On the last set the wrench asked if I was using S100 (the bike wash). I quit using it and had no more problems. It seems that it is acidic and if it isn't rinsed off well it can cause corrosion. As you can imagine you can't rinse the area where the end caps fit into the muffler unless you take the end caps off when rinsing.

My friend & I both have Bub 7's with pitting on the end caps.
I too talked to Bub & they didn't seem to care. All they wanted
to do was sell me new ones. This is my first & only set of Bubs.
I have seen other sets worse than mine. It's a shame because
they sound & look great other than the end caps.

I have a set of the BUB/Rinehart true duals. The chrome on the heat shields is great, but the chrome on the mufflers is somewhat sub-standard. It's not pitted, but it's noticibly thin in some areas. It's not bad, and not really noticible, unless you're right up close, like when you're cleaning them. (also have the black end caps that turned copper colored). Every set of Screamin' Eagle or Vance and Hines slip ons I've had has had far better chrome.

However, they have a killer sound and perform well, so I'll live with the so-so chrome.

...and the end caps are blistered, not bad, but there. Me no like. Sound is terrific, but I thought Bub didn't play around when it came to quality chrome.

What's up, there, Bub?

I'm deciding between doing a major 96" project or switching out with a crate motor and I wanted a Bub exhaust (1.75" crossover head pipe or 2" full system, depending on which way I go with engine upgrades) to be part of that equation.

I called Bub a few weeks ago and the gal answering the phone said I'm out of warranty but to send in pictures, that maybe they might do something for me.

I know we're all talking endcaps, the ones of us who are expressing problems, right, nothing else about the slip-ons?

I had an issue with them about their Bub7 Stealth's and the response from them was both quick and very satisfying. They replaced the pipes no questions asked, and beyond the 90 day limit too. I talked with a Linnea Johnston from Bub and was extremely happy with the outcome.
