Hi everyone, i'm John and I'm from manchester england
I'm 38 years old and recently ive found that whenever i've nicked myself shaving i bleed for a long period of time. A tiny little cut can take 20 mins or more to stop bleeding. Same goes if i graze my knee etc. I've also noticed that im bruising extremely easily and not since i was a kid playing football have i had so many bruises on my arms, legs etc. I'm not talking about dozens, it may only be ten or so, but its a lot more than i usually have. I'm not sure if im supposed to mention my health history or that of my familys. Many thanks...john

Hi John. I started experiencing spontaneous bruising before christmas 08 and it's still continuing, it is definately worth while that you see your GP and for blood tests to be carried out. I am currently waiting on my referal to see a haematologist about my unexplained bruising. I have not had the problem with bleeding but have however experienced many blood clots in the past few weeks. I know this might be quite worrying for you, it was for me but try and make an appointment with your GP asap.

Hi Amber, thanks for your reply.
I thought i'd go see a doc, but since it takes days to get an appt, i thought i'd give this place a whirl as i dont want to be seen as a drama queen. My mam (lung and bone) and dad (acute myloid luekemia) died of cancer, aged 68 and 58 respectively. I did have some moles cut out a few years ago and they said they were pre-cancerous, i think, and i had to stay out of the sun. My only brother, aged 44, now has cancer (called GIST) so perhaps you can see why i dont want to be overly paranoid about it all and make a fuss. I just hoped someone might say....oh i had that, it was nothing and it cleared up after a week, by itself and the cause is called....etc, so dont worry about it. Then i wouldnt mither the doctor.
PS The problem you have with bloodclots, were they around your ribcage? I had a few breathing problems a few months ago and it felt like i'd broke a rib or two, such was the pain when i breathed in or out. The doc said it was probably a bloodclot on my lung and i didnt have to worry about it. It's back again, but on both sides of my ribcage and so breathing is a bit of a pain.
I know it might sound like im a hypocondriac , but im not. On average, i see my doc once, maybe twice a year. Many thanks...john
