Bruised feeling all over

I was wondering if anyone has an idea as to what would make your entire body ace liek it's bruised all over after a night of drinking. At first I thought if was just vodka so I switched to Hennessey and I still have the same feeling I am in a lot of pain today. One thing I heard reading another forum they are saying it could be saying my body is not metabolizing alcohol? Alcoholic myopathy. Can someone please help me.

There is a rare disorder that makes it difficult for people to metabolize alcohol, (more common in Asians) they usually can't make through one glass of wine. If you're switching to Hennessey to see if it helps . . . you ain't got it!:p LOL

Did you pass out cold? Did you sleep in one position all night? Did you get enough water - alcohol dehydrates. Maybe switch from Hennessey to a sports drink for awhile.

Alcoholic myopathy, like the name implies, occurs in chronic alcoholics. In the severe form it can turn urine a reddish color - it's the muscle enzymes getting washed away. If you were thinking you might have a problem with alcohol, quitting drinking right now would be a very good idea.

Alcoholics who continue to drink develop persistent alcoholic myopathy. It causes muscle atrophy, where you permanently lose muscle and become very weak. Severe AM can occur at a relatively young age. Doc's think some people do have an inherited weakness for developing AM early in life.

This webpage covers recovery and all that, but also medical stuff on what happens physically when you drink too much. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/alcoholconsumption.html

Out of curiosity - why the switch from vodka to Hennessey? Booze is booze my friend;). Good luck, I hope you feel better.

Thank you everone for your comments. I made the swithch because I never felt it when drinking Hennessey, but I guess it's any booze. Oh well I guess I can 't drink anymore even though I feel better today soreness is gone and it's a new day. Thanks all

I have the same problem the day after I drink (more than 3-4 drinks). I wake up feeling okay but a few hours later I get this bruised feeling all over my body that lasts 24-48 hours. I have tried to research alcohol myopathy but have had little luck finding the answers I am looking for. I keep reading that this is usually associated with alcoholics but I am NOT an alcoholic. I used to drink quite a bit through college but never had any problems. And now that my drinking is much less frequent this occurs and has been going on for about 3 years. I have asked several different doctors and I noone has ever heard of my problem. One doctor told me that I may be allergic to alcohol but I don't know if that is the case.

I have listed my questions below and would appreciate any answers anyone can provide:
What causes this to occur suddenly after not having any issues with alcohol for several years?
If I am only drinking like this once every 2-3 months is it going to cause me problems down the road? And is it safe for me to even have a glass of wine or a beer?
Sometimes when I drink even a few drinks of a beer I get this strange sensation throughout my body. It is almost a paralyzing feeling as if i can feel the alcohol coursing through. Does anyone get this feeling as well?

I do enjoy the occasional drink but I don't want to hurt my body. Please help! I cannot find any answers from my doctors or the web!!
Thanks~

Unusual responses to alcohol are one of the symptoms of Lyme disease...

but no matter what the cause, I would think that your body is trying to tell you that drinking may not be good for it.
