i didn't think maggie did a bad job portraying rachel but the lack of chemistry between her and bale was really obvious and ruined the pair for me a bit. :nod: i really hate it when roles get recast especially if it's really obvious like they did with katie.

(01-02-2009, 01:16 AM) I loved Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes in Batman Begins; She was very different from most of the romantic interests of Superheroes in movies or comics. Rachel was necessarily a Damsel in Distress, she wasn't falling over Bruce (before or after he returned) and was a heaRABtrong Lawyer determined to bring the Unjust to Justice. I loved that she was part of the motivation that sent Bruce on his journey that would lead him to Batman and that they kept the really serious "Romantic" element of the film for last. Even though it felt like something that should've been developed as a subplot, the chemistry between Holmes and Bale sold the scene completely.

The character, under Holmes' wing, could've developed into a great character by the time The Dark Knight came around, but unfortunately Katie didn't return. I was against the change to begin with, but Maggie wasn't even trying to put in even a half-decent performance as Rachel and lacked chemistry with both her co-stars to even make me believe that either of these men could want her.

Hey, I'm not exactly sure if this is breaking the rules (if it is, I'll remove it ASAP!), but if anyone else is a fan of Katie Holmes' portrayal of Rachel Dawes or the character in general, you should check out Dawes_Holmes.
 
He is. :lol: But he fell in love with one woman and woman alone (Casino Royale). It would be lovely if Bruce's one woman would be Rachel and Rachel alone. Hey, do you happen to know where I can find RB icons? I've been looking all over to no luck. :cry:

:nod: It will do injustice to her character, I guess. I'd love him to be all James Bond though... when James Bond only truly loved Eva Green's character and then hooked up with girl randomly afterwarRAB. :)
 
:nod: I felt the same way, that Maggie had good chemistry with Aaron so her choice in TDK was believable, whereas IMO, Katie had better chemistry with Christian.
 
It was, in a million ways. bittersweet - which was exactly how they're relationship was.

Does anyone have caps for their TDK kiss? I want to compare. :)
