bronchitis or just asthma?

So this winter before Xmas I had a cold that persisted for about 2 1/2 weeks (not a horrible cold, just lasted a long time) A few weeks after I got over my cold I started having my asthma symptoms (I have allergy-induced asthma) It kind of came out of nowhere (which can happen, I know) but along with the asthma symptoms (shortness of breath off and on all day, mucus in the throat, can't breathe, chest pressure) my back was KILLING me every day and after about a week of these symtoms I started to get what feels like chest congestion (except I can't cough it up... I feel like I have congested lungs or something but nothing comes up when I try to cough) These symtoms (back ache and congestion) are new to me; before when I've had problems with my asthma they weren't present at all. I've been taking mucinex and I still can't cough anything up (unless I clear my throat) but after taking that medicine for a few days I feel almost back to normal (haven't even needed my inhaler in a few days) Do you think I had bronchitis or is it just a bout of asthma? I don't think I ever had the fever or any other symptoms, but I was sick for a while there during christmas.
