Ok, so I had broke my big toe quite some time ago. I'd say approximately 3 or 4 years ago. I am still having complications from this, I dont believe it has fully healed. It's very sensitive to the touch, its quite stiff when i bend it and produces an unsettleing feeling, somewhat "puffy", at times it makes me sick feeling due to the discomfort, I still get pain in it frequently. There are times when i bend it and it feels like its going to "pop" but im afraid to go further in the event it might break or something.

My question is, for those who have broken a big toe. Do you go through this everyday or is it just like nothing ever happened. Could something still be wrong?

*Situation of Broken Toe*
My toe basically just hit the ground in a downward manner, and I actually heard it break *snap*. Well, it had bled almost the entire night approximately 7 hours. Not profusely but enough that I became concerned and got it treated. Got the x-ray confirmed it was a break. All they told me to do was to tape it to the toe beside it and just take it easy. They didnt give any meRAB or anything. So I followed instructions and thats what happened... The reason for the bleeding was the nail had jammed and cracked partially down the middle. Blood was under the nail itself. It was later confirmed just recently by a foot doctor that I had broken the "nail plate" from which the toenail grows from also during a visit for a different foot condition.

I broke my big toe. Six months later it was still hurting and didn't look right. The first podiatrist told me he would have to fuse the bone. A friemd told me to stay away from that dr as he messed up her toe and she had to have it sugically corrected. The second dr took an xray and said a piece of bone had broken off so he would just open up the toe and remove it. However, when he did, he found the bone had shredded the tissue, He cleaned it up and stitched it. I haven't had a problem since.

Have you had the foot re xrayed? That should tell you whats going on in there, and what neeRAB to be done about it.

In the mean time, a simple analgesic such as Advil might help ease the discomfort.
