You can buy this part off CNN.CN for about $52.99 USD before shipping. How did you manage to break the LCD though? I feel your pain! I have an n73 too, such a beautiful phone with a beautiful display.

N73 parts page from CNN.CN

There's several guides around HoFo, and supposedly youtube.com on taking the N73 apart (housing changes mostly).

Look around for these, and see if it's something you want to tackle. Otherwise, Nokia service center.

Here's one housing swap guide

buy a new screen and change it....its really easy too remove the front cover and screen retainer that is held by four small clips and then the screen unplugs from the mainboard via a small connector

Its actually quite ironic how this broke... i was following instructions from this very site... on how to change the faceplate... changed from plum/silver to black (so it fits my internet edition )

very stupid on my part coz this picture:
http://thenokiablog.com/wp-content/uploads/7-lcd-clips.jpg

is the one that I misread...and instead of the clips i tried to open the white things on the lcd... I confused the clips for the white blobby things and thought they were the clips (totally my fault...and a stupid one at that.. anyone want to spare five minutes to beat me up? I will put up no resistance..! )

This guy from ebay seems to have good feedback and is selling them:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280068378211
at a pretty good price if you compare posting etc... plus here you can complain to Ebay/Paypal if things go wrong... cnn you just about twiddle your thumbs... thats why I was asking if anyone has any experience with them.

(Note: I am not connected in any way with these guys, i dont make a penny if you visit their site or buy from them or hump them )

CAlled the local nokia service center... they want around 200$ to fix this!
Rogue bastards!

At less than 1% negative feedback (counting neutrals as negative) in the past month, and the same % overall since he joined....I'd say they are a pretty safe seller. I try to not buy from anyone less than 98%, and have had really good luck on eBay the past 7 years.

Good luck. Let us know how everything goes. I'll bet the replacement is a piece of cake now....

Cool! Thanks for the info, I have not been on ebay long... just a few months and so far have gotten some very good deals and items from there but other than the quick feedback glance, I dont really know much about sellers and have no real calculations the way you did on top.

I have checked this guys feedback and gone through the items sold and I came up with two LCDs for the n73 that he recently sold: with positive feedback, no negs for this item as yet... so I think I will give it a shot.
CNN sounds like a good alternative and was my second choice except that I read on some forum (after googling) that they are not very responsive to email queries...

I did open up my mob and took out the lcd and put it back in just to check it out... pretty damn simple and am sure i wont have a prob replacing it... will keep you guys posted.

Cheers!

Hey all!

Heres an update to this:

The new screen works! My N73 nokia baby is restored!

A few quick points:
1- The lcd is slightly smudged, I tried wiping it with aftershave etc but that just does not go.... its not like the spotless original LCD (duh!)
2- Not as clear, had to increase the brightness a bit to get it to its former glory... i guess that means shorter battery life in the long run.. no idea if this pulls more battery life but wouldnt be to surprised..
3-It comes with an annoying half centimeter sticker on it that says OK or passed or something... its scary trying to remove it coz you might damage the lcd again and the gum from that sticker is a bit hard to get rid of.

Also bought this item:

which is pretty much crap if using via the USB for power... dont waste your money... have not tried it with the AAA batteries setup though.

URL for the above speakers:
ebay

Cant wait for the N95 to come out so I can give this to mom and get the phone which i have been drooling over for ages..!

Cheers!
