When I started my car this morning it was making kind of a loud clunking noise then it blew oil all over the ground. Could it be just a blown hose or something more serious like the head gasket. The oil from what i can tell is coming from the bottom of the motor (93 buick lesaber) below the power steering fluid tank and the belt. any idea?

I have the 91. Check your oil filter, and then check your oil sending unit (it may be called an "oil sensing unit" but I think it is sending). It is a sensor that screws into the block and detects pressure. It has a diaphram in it that can break (and they do). If it breaks, oil can come out there. Or, the unit can blow out of the block (less likely).

If it is the sending unit, if you are handy you can do it yourself. They are cheap. Or find a local mechanic. The skill level to replace one is beginner. Take the electronic wires off (on a connector on the unit) and unscrew it from the block and put new one in. Replace connector. Done. No rocket science.

The only problem here, is, we don't know if that is it yet.

Also, if you ever have to replace your timing belt (you will) that is beginner also. If you want to know how write me.
