Broken Bat Wing Brackets & More

Well its me again, Im the one that writes in from time to time about the problem with My 05 Ultra braking bat wing brackets on a regular basis. Well a while back the mount bracket on the Rienhart TD broke off right above the starter. Took about 2 inch part of the tubing with it. Got that fixed earlier this summer. Now I noticed a exhaust leak by the rear cyl. the other day. Well I took the rear header tube off. The enter exhaust tube about 1 inch from the exhaust flange at the head is cracked in five places. The metal is like a crispy potato chip. Any body have problems with the R,True Duals? By the way, I put on my 3rd set of brackets for the season in the fairing a couple weeks ago and they hvae already broke. Hmm? What is next. Oh. Now that I switched to Mobile One oil in the engine. It leaks at the rocker covers, This bike has 40K and is very well cared for. This is getting old tho.

Time for a new bike, get a loan.....spend your first communion money, I dunno. But it sound's like your not having fun anymore. Maybe arrange for it to be stolen, or take that SOB apart piece by piece and sell it on e-bay.

My scoot has broken a few too. There is a redesigned horizontal bracket, the silver ones. Are you using the new ones as replacements? The new part number has a "C" on the end. Just put one of the new style brackets on last week. While typing this, I'm wondering why in the 'ell didn't I replace the other one while in there...

I made my own patch for my bracket....It was $50 deductible to get fixed or free with scrap metal around the house...guess which one i chose...hasn't broke again.

I would look more into what is causing this continual problem like having your crank runout checked, motor mount, etc. It's not uncommon for the brackets to break now and again, but three times already then something's up. I've had my 08 since Aug 07 and even took out the compensator and ran a direct sprocket for two years and haven't had one fairing bracket break.....also have been running 7.25 speakers which are inherently larger and heavier than stock.

its a big time problem with the main center brackets, instead of rigging my own ,i purchased 2 repair kits from savior out of canada,29.00 a peice, comes with dual threaded rubber bushing,L bracket,2 pop rivets, drill bit n lock nut.takes about 30 to 45 min to do both without taking off entire bracket, just where they break at bend, saves alot of time n i beleive its a great fix! GOOD LUCK! P.S. THATWAS MY 3RD TIME!

I think DAWG said it best (as usual) - must be something causing that many repetitive issues. Unless of course you ride it like like you stole it?
