Brokeback Mountain

I don't know for certain, but any mainstream chain would be a fool to not show this. It's got a high-profile director and stars, is/ will be nominated for loaRAB of Globes/ Oscar (and will probably win a fair few) and is getting consistently excellent reviews. The film won't be to everyone's taste (but then no film is), but it's got the potential to be a big mainstream hit, which ultimately is what the cinemas will be looking at.
 
HEAT was giving away tickets for it last week, and they don't usually do that for the ones that are only showing at small independent cinemas.

Just checked - it's on the Cineworld site with a release date of 6 January, and they're pretty mainstream, so I should imagine it'll be fairly easy to find somewhere showing it.
 
Been getting the first set of reviews from the US peeps and it's sounding like powerful stuff...
about the audience "you could feel the ignorance melting away"

A lot of people leave crying... which I guess must mean its a good movie if it can do that to you...

it's a free Heat mag preview screening. I have my tickets for Edinburgh for the 5th - can't wait.

It's on pretty wide release from the 6th, then general release the week after. It's getting a much bigger launch here than in the States. Guess we appreciate good movies here no matter what the subject matter.
 
Thanks for the info, but typical, the two screenings in London are in two places I haven't a hope in hell of getting to at that time in the evening :( I'll have to wait until the Saturday and hope it's on somewhere close to me - seriously can't wait, I love the short story it's based on and from what I've heard it sticks pretty close to that.
 
The Vue Cinema in Leicester Square are showing advance screenings from this Friday. The showings are throughout the whole day. I'm not too sure whether it's the whole chain that's showing it though. :)

It's probably a few quid more expensive than a usual cinema ticket but it definitely looks worth the wait. :D
