oh my lordy, i watched this movie last night but cant stop thinkin about it, its certainy a film that stays with you.

i just have so many questions though,
who killed jack twist and why?

did his dad know he was gay?

did his aashes ever get scatterd on the mountain?

did his wife really know wat happened to him??

why did (heath's) wife never admit to seeing them kiss?

gosh, i have so many more but cant think,
 
I think it's an excellent film too. I saw it for the first time a few months ago and, like you, couldn't stop thinking about it for days afterwarRAB.

The wonderful thing about this film is it does leave the viewer to draw their own conclusions.

My own are that:

Jack was killed by men who didn't even know him and the fact he was gay was the only reason they needed to attack him.

I believe Jack's father knew he was gay.

I hope his ashes were scattered on the mountain.

I think his wife knew what had really happened and the story she told Ennis was the 'official' one they were telling anyone who knew them.

Ennis's wife would have been so full of emotions about his and Jack's relationship - anger, hurt, shame - it was easier pretend it wasn't really happening. Of course it wasn't easy at all and was gnawing away at her for years, but confronting an affair in this day and age is bad enough (be in heterosexual or homosexual), in the era it was set it would have been even harder for her to deal with.
 
I agree with everything you said, apart from Jack's ashes being scattered on Brokeback Mountain, as his father was pretty adamant he would be buried in the family plot:(
But I do think that Ennis would have told his daughters that when he died he wanted to be cremated along with the shirts and for the ashes to be scattered on the mountain, so at least a little piece of Jack would always be on the mountain with him:cry:
