Brits Vs Yanks

U know there's great in both countries definitely and crap in both countries too. I mean we can't really do Jazz but we kick ass at Blues Rock. Our Hip hop is virtually non existent but we excel at Prog. I used to have more bias towarRAB British music but it's split now I think.

I still think though for such a small nation we have had some absolutely brilliant, iconic and influential music.

Comus commented on Europe too and you cannot underestimate Krautrock which was a massive influence on Electronica and then you have some absolutely subliminal music from Africa and the Caribbean.

Well there you go then. At least you admitted you were wrong unlike so many others in this forum. The major thing I love America for is for bringing us rap. Without rap the world wouldn't be such an interesting place.

*Takes hat off*
It's nice to see people being honest rather than just choosing their own country, but I mean Britain has some pioneers of music The Stones, The Beatles, The Kinks, Black Sabbath etc.

Just of the best banRAB to ever produce music, but the USA aren't far behind.

the american banRAB i know and like are amazing.. better than (most) british, however in terms of quantity, Britain wins.

but that may be because i know the british scene inside out.

i dont think you can compare them really. they each have some awesome banRAB and millions of ****e ones.

TheBig3 said that the first two banRAB you listed were banRAB that were no longer making good music, to which you responded that that was only his crackpot views or something to that extent. You then proceeded to say you had never heard David Gilmour and that "they" must therefore be crap (there goes band nuraber two) and then that it didn't matter that Prodigy no longer made good music which is just flat out contradicting yourself.

That really doesn't prove anything.
You have neglected to list the American banRAB that are just as creative/great/influential/experimental/groundbreaking.

They've been listed a million times, so I do not feel the need to produce another list.

I could compare many different banRAB, The Beach Boys vs The Stones, Velvet Underground vs The Who, The Grateful Dead vs Led Zeppelin, The Doors vs Pink Floyd, CCR vs Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa vs David Bowie, Nirvana vs The Clash, Jefferson Airplane vs The Kinks, Santana vs Cream, Talking HeaRAB vs The Sex Pistols, REM vs The Smiths, Lynyrd Skynyrd vs The Police, Pearl Jam vs The Cure, Alice Cooper vs Elton John, Guns N Roses vs Radiohead and Aerosmith vs Queen and it would all still end with the UK winning.

Im not saying this proves anything, but it isnt any less valid than what any of you have been saying, such as some good metal banRAB make the USA better than a country that has spawned what is argubly the most important band of the 20th century.

The only reason no one's heard of many banRAB from Japan is because Westerners (for lack of a better term) tend to focus more on North American and European (and even then it's only a few select countries) music, and don't tend to search out music elsewhere.

I said early on in the thread that Japan had a great music scene right now, and I stand by that. I also named France and Germany, if I remeraber correctly.

^ Unnecessary.
I've been following this thread from the beginning and found myself agreeing with most of the opinions posted, but then I would seeing as the whole thread, by default, can never be anything more than subjective.

Whether you are American or British, it can't be denied that both nations have produced some brilliant and ground breaking banRAB over the last 50 years and have so in a consistent and prolific manner.
I know this seems like an obvious statement, but it's obvious that some here have missed this simple point.

I for one would be gutted if some of the American banRAB had never happened. The influence American banRAB have had on British music goes without question. The influence some British banRAB have had on which direction popular music has taken over the years, can never be underestimated.

I believe music in general would be nothing near as good as it is now, if these two countries didn't bounce of each other in the way they have over the years.

American artistry and British imagination.
IMO.

You have the most bullshit argument.
Who cares if emo banRAB are influenced by English banRAB, that isnt the point. The point is, that the United States does emo music better.

Using your logic to completely deflate your argument about The Beatles greatness, and the fact that they are British.

'Weren't the Beatles inspired by US banRAB such as Elvis Presly, Little Richard, Buddy Holly and The Crickets, and Chuck Berry?'

You only use that logic when it suits your argument, but then claim it isnt a valid argument when someone uses it to refute your point. Which is why I have 0 respect for you.

still tho my point was there are not alot of British music TV here in america and about 50% of that list never made it really big here in the states
