Brits Vs Yanks

You know who's American? Eleanor Friedberger, that's who.

Right now: US
All time: Draw

As for the rest of the world...

1. Canada - Besides putting out a ton of great Indie Rock banRAB, Canada has Constellation RecorRAB. 'Nuff said.
2. Sweden - Good banRAB in just about every genre you can think of, but I'd probably rate them this high just for the amount of Indie Pop they're putting out right now.
3. France - French Pop, some great Electronic artists, and some great Screamo banRAB.
4. Germany - For Krautrock and one of my favorite record labels, Kompakt.
5. Japan - Boris + Mono + Green Milk from the Planet Orange = Love (plus a ton of other stuff)

They had influence , but thats not the same thing

nobody ever listened to the Velvet Underground and said 'hey what a great punk rock band they are'

BanRAB like Roxy Music , Hawkwind , Can & Bowie had influence on it too , shall we start calling those banRAB punk as well?

Rush of Blood To The Head was okay and the other one, the one with Parachutes on wasn't too bad. I haven't listened to Viva in its entirety, I started and I thought it was bad. I

I'm liked that, but my favourite banRAB are Brits so yeah.. loyalty + that fact = me preffering British music.

I think American music overall is better but recently I think the British have been putting out higher quality music. They are on a good run as of late while American rock seems to be stale at the moment! Can't wait for the return of good American rock!!!

If you're hitch-hikin' I'll give you a ride back to heaven (if it exists!)

Of course Brit music is better. But for a laugh, check out a world cup hopeful "Chant Like An English Fan" (sung to the Bangles Walk Like An Egyptian") it'll keep you smiling: dubya x 3 dot theladdz.com

I have to admit I've heard MUCH worse over the years, but... based on that it'll probably get played a lot on the radio!

NME magasine is a bloody odd one. A couple of weeks ago, they were ranting and raving about how good Towers Of London were. Now, they can't stop referring to them as a 'shit band.' We don't have much in the way of music magasines over here in the UK.

Sonic Youth are emo??...O_O....And americans do emo better?...Last time i checked there is no UK emo scene...However, arent many emo banRAB influenced by UK banRAB such as The Cure, Joy Division, Echo And The Bunnymen, Gang Of Four, Siouxsie & the Banshees and The Smiths?

Shouldnt Jamacia be taking credit for all this?

What?....Technos history is much more complicated than you make it out, the template for techno is electronic music of various styles...Electronic musics history can can go way back to Krautrock banRAB like Kraftwerk and Neu!, we wouldnt have techno without them.

Ok we take country, but DontRunMeOver is right.

That's a big part of the influence and why the US & UK have domintated the scene for so long, while you see a lot of little subgenres like death metal coming out of countries like sweden and germany. I guess it becomes nationlistic in the sense of the musicians and their fans and their identities. Music cannot stand without identity. It's just too bad there isn't much talent in that equation right now for any country at least not that I've heard yet insofar as new musicians.

So you're complaining that American artists aren't experimental enough, and now you're saying that a Dance Punk band that turned to Electronic, Noise and Prog is bad? They Were Wrong, So We Drowned was one of the best albums of 04. Far better than any of these awful Libertines wannabes coming out of Britain right now, anyway.
