Brits Vs Yanks

The influence was The Who, The Kinks, and The Stones, the edge was their amateurish 3 or even 2 chord rhythms and their snotty shouted vocals. Their sound, though crude, was a major bridge from The Who to The Stooges and ultimately 70's punk rock.

Aaargh! That statement makes me cry!

Husker Du
Minutemen
Pere Ubu
Suicide
Mission of Burma
The entire No Wave scene
Sonic Youth
Big Black
Swans
Devo
The Cramps
Half Japanese

and probably more.

It's not that I'm denying that the British didn't have a ****load of amazing post-punk banRAB, but you just looked over a ton of my favorite banRAB, and I couldn't just let that go.

Rock banRAB are rife the world over and for the most part don't cut it in the same way. I understand your point, but I do believe that nations are like people and have characteristics, traits.

America=music
Britain=music
Brazil=football
France=food
Germany=no sense of humour etc. ;)

Yeah, to the point that we argue and fight, 'til somebody gets killed over it. I'd say for genuin imagination, the Brits get it. But for the actual (I don't wanna say skill, damnit what's the word)adroit grit, Americans basically have more balls. Now that's not to say there's never been a british band to dump a load in ya' earlobe. But even they tend to come here to express themselves, whether it's to get an American label or just because we're more into the (for lack of a better word) controversy.

That reminRAB me, I think it's hilarious whenever I hear someone from down south try to use "yankee" as some kind an insult, like I'm supposed to be offended. :laughing:

Temptations? I got sunshiiiiiiiiiiiiiine on a rainy day, when it's cold outside, I got the month of may. :D

I don't really listen to them but meh, suppose they're ok.

What have i ever done to you?... I try to be nice to you all the time, you always have to be jerk.

Im sorry for having different views on what makes a band great, and whatever you think my views are, you are probably misguided.

In fact i havent really gotten over your smartass "go listen to some scale runs" comment, that really pissed me off.

A lot of the banRAB I listen to also cite The Beach Boys, VU, The Stooges and other Proto-Punk banRAB, early Hardcore banRAB, etc., etc.

Oh, but wait, none of those banRAB are famous and most are American, so I guess they don't mean shit.

Personal preference?

I prefer The Doors, Nirvana, Velvet Underground and The Ramones to The Rolling Stones, im not being biased or going by preference...Hell i dont even like The Stones all that much, but still no american band really touchs them in overall greatness.

I just defend my own, but in reality they're both so well matched. Even though the music that shapes me is British music.. and my favourite banRAB are probably British.

Americans were so much better in the 00s it makes me sad. :(

TBH to yall brits most amercians are not exposed to yall music scene because they dont show yall music over here on TV and we dont know any websites decaded to Brit music either at least i dont
