Brits Vs Yanks

Another thing that hasn't yet been mentioned (as far as I know), is garage rock. The US kinda had an edge on the UK in that regard. Sure, most of them were really influenced by British Invasion banRAB, but they did add that raw edge to it that was probably more influential towarRAB the development of punk.

No it absolutly could not. I don't even like Elvis but he was rock and roll, and he had such a world wide impact.

Im not even giong to get started on Dylan.

Im sure it could be argued, but those people are the same who like side two of tattoo you.

I know they have. I only mentioned Franz Ferdinand because I like that song.

Well, you know that I won't say 'The Beatles',
because I HATE them with a passion!!!

I've never been to America, so I can't comment on all the differences and similarities between the cultures. For some reason, British banRAB are always intent on 'breaking America.' I don't understand this, as American banRAB never seem to have to 'break britain', we just accept them and take them in.

I think it`s more down to exposure than anything.

America seems very conservative when it comes to music , hence it`s charts full of hip hop , R&B & rock and very little else.

The UK seems to enjoy looking for new things. And banRAB that do something a little different seem to become popular, case in point Massive Attack. They were really the first band to mix Hip Hop , Electronica , Reggae , Dub & Dance Music.Blue Lines was probably the biggest selling UK album when it came out.

You just don`t see that happening in America.

there is no draw, thats a stupid answer thats being used to escape arguing or really thinking about it. and to be honest i see nothing wrong with either of those banRAB mentioned.

Ok just a couple of questions:

1. Aren't the Cars and Bruce Hornsby American. Im almost certain the cars are from Boston and maybe im confusing Hornsby because he went to Berklee School of music (in boston) but I was certain they were from here.

2. You said brits are making, implying that its still currently being made well, and your first two out of the gate are people who, if their making music, its complete ****. Did you actually buy Gilmore's new album? And I can't recall one decent thing prodigy did this century.

Ehem, please pardon my calamitous error in exchange.

It would be a great honor for me to bestow upon you such a manifest:

1. mclusky
2. Future of the Left

The preceding banRAB are both British, henceforth I listed them. They share lead vocalists, henceforth the association. Carry on with further discourse...

Trying to persuade someone to your point of view and trying to force it upon them as fact are two different things. You can have a debate without deciding which view is "right" and which view is "wrong." In fact, when talking about something as subjective as music, most arguments don't have a clear winner.
