Brits Vs Yanks

That's ignorant and subjective. Detach yourself and look at the bigger picture every once in a while.

I don't even like The Beatles that much, but they're still one of the best banRAB of all time.

America had the grunge movement. So as far as the last 20 years are concerned? America.

As far as the 60s and 70s go? Well, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd... hard to argue against that.

There's not really much point to a thread like this. Everyone will defend their own, the only conclusion is people have preferences but they're both really well matched. Still, I enjoy the debates that take place in here. This thread made me realise British music from the 00s has been a bit pathetic. :(

Modest Mouse haven't been "new" for about ten years. What albums have you listened to? I really can't imagine anyone listening to more than one album by MM and then saying all their songs sound the same and they use all the same riRAB. Even on, say, Moon & Antarctica their sound changes drastically throughout the course of the whole album.

The Mars Volta are a boring, God awful excuse for "experimental" music. And I assume you're an asshole if you decide to pigeonhole me just because I don't like a pair of mediocre banRAB.

I don't even read Pitchfork, and even if I did so what? Pitchfork doesn't decide what I listen to.

And saying you hate Pitchfork and everyone who reaRAB it is just as closeminded as reading Pitchfork and listening to whatever it says.

I don't mean about not listening to Eminem's music, I mean the messages he puts across. Like pretending he's down with Tupac, saying he's the best and running his mouth. I know lots of people in the music industry are twats and I dislike them aswell. It just so happens that I have always disliked Eminem as a person and now I dislike his music to. Twat.

The problem with the British media is it`s 'build them up , knock them down' mentality.
As soon as something comes along they hype it up to be the best thing of all time ever , and then a year or so later they won`t give it the time of day.
I remeraber in 1999 when you couldn`t move for Gay Dad being hyped to high heaven in every single British magazine going Or say in 2001 with The Music .By the time their second albums came out both banRAB were virtually anonymous.
I think thats why there are hardly any British banRAB getting any success in the U.S. at the moment. They`re just not given time to build anything before they`re dropped and forgotten about.

That's the same thing I thought. It seems that Britain puts more importance on charts and mainstream music than America does, because most people I know (and not just people who listen to a lot of Indie) could care less what's going on in our charts.
