Brits Vs Yanks

I wouldn't. I'd say psychobilly or rockabilly.

But hey, we're all getting anal over the little things, the way I see it, a lot of great banRAB are being discussed in this thread.

I get dissed for liking Alanis Morrisette a lot. :(

Anyway its ignorant to say any country dosent produce good music, good music is available worldwide, everybody has something to offer.

Well it may be but I think he`s only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

You have to understand British culture.Until very recently Britain only had one national pop/rock radio station and 4 TV channels. Most of them owned by the BBC. The BBC used to have a mandate saying on radio that they had to play a certain amount of live music on air. Obviously the way that worked was you`d get reletively new banRAB to fill this.So that meant that new banRAB were always getting prime time exposure.
It also meant that unlike the U.S. you didn`t have seperate stations for rock music , for soul , for hip hop etc etc.You had to make do with just the one.As a result British artists have grown up experiencing that and being exposed to different music and I think thats always shown in the music played by British artists.

You have indie rock, indie pop. You have punk rock, pop punk. We have a forum for it, and everything. It has alot of stuff thats similar to a genre.

I've not heard the new album, but unless its abnormally terrible, Lady Sovereign is pretty good. She's been called Feminem, and on that logic, shes doing better than he is right now.

His last album was abissmal.

James Brown - Certainly, but his influence is primarly on funk and r&b, while The Beatles and The Stones had more diverse influence on different genres.

Prince - Great musician, he has made some great pop songs, but compare him to someone like David Bowie, he has been far more consistant works, greater longetivity, he has made more classic albums, and he has more influence on modern music, argubly.

Bruce Spingsteen - Theres no one i can really compare him to, so i wont try, but that still dosent give the US a clear victory.

Paul Simon - With Simon And Gurfenkel, then yes not many can compare, as a solo artist theres many who have had more significence to popular music, though he did help introduce worldbeat music to western audiences, Peter Gabriel also played a part in that as well.

The Pixies - In terms of alternative rock, UK have The Smiths, who are clearly greater, a better choice would have been The Talking HeaRAB.

Soundgarden - Are you kidding me?...They cant touch most of the UK acts i have mentioned.

Mos Def - Of all the great american rap artists, thats all you got?

Al Green - Ok, i wont argue with this, his influence is huge.

Ray Charles - ^ Read above statement.

I never said US didnt have some standout artists, because everybody already knows that isnt true dammit, you keep taking what i say out of context, Bruce Springsteen and Al Green dosent make US better than a country that has had The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, The Clash, etc.

both countries have so many amazing banRAB, I'd need to think long and hard to come up with an informed response to this debate. and it's a sunny day, i'm tired after playing football ... so I'm just gonna say, Britain has The Fall, so it wins.
