I've recently started trying a range of new sports for motivational purposes. It's going well but on Friday gone I played indoor football for half an hour. Afterwards, people were commenting on how my face was really red so when I went to the bathroom, I understood what they meant. I looked as if I'd been holding my breath for as long as possible or just finished some very intense cardio (I was a bit worn out mid-way through the football but nothing extreme.. at the end I'd slowed down a bit and I felt fine). I wasn't out of breath, I didn't feel out of energy and I rate myself at about average fitness, as I do exercise by running short distances, riding my bike to/from work, doing weights.
My face stayed bright red for at least half an hour after sitting down and then started to calm after that for the next 30mins. My heart rate was back to normal and I felt totally fine, but the fact that my face was so red kind of put me off doing football again this Thursday coming because you get a bit self conscious when you look like beetroot for an hour after.
Does anyone know what may have caused this? I've had similar symptoms before when walking up a hill to my friends house in the cold, but I had plenty of layers on so I was really hot. I was wondering if maybe it could be a heat rash?
One thing to note is that I played in the morning at about 10am. I didn't eat anything apart from a bag of crisps and only a few mouth fulls of juice during the football. I know this is never a good idea anyway but I don't know if it can be responsible for my symptoms.
Thanks in advance, Colin
