I have an older Motorola Modem s85101 and "My Own" older Linksys Router wrt54g.... I have the most basic Road Runner Internet plan... Which I think I'm paying 33 dollars a month and I pay it every two months which is 66 dollars!
But anyways as it is the most BASIC plan... My download speed from SpeedTest.net right now is 0.98 and upload speed is 0.49 and a 102 ping.... Would it do me any good to get a new Modem? Also my modem I think has a short because the button on the top wont turn on or off unless I press really hard on it and a majority of the time I have to bang on it.... Also what about the Router?
Ive heard that cable company's charge 9 dollars a month if you use their modems... I'm currently with bright house and even if I asked I doubt they would tell me and for the fact that the company is shady that the only way to get prices is to talk to a service rep! They already tried to jack up our price to 50 dollars a month... I called them and told them that I was NOT paying 20 more dollars a month for the same exact plan...
Ive had a FIT with Brighthouse... Just the fact that I can go get another service with double and triple the speed for the same price is Just sickening! I guess you get what you pay for though... I can not afford to sign a contract so the only options I have is to stay with Brighthouse or get Virgin Mobile MIFI....
