Bridget's (misplaced) paranoia about Rebecca (not a lesbian in the novel) eventually enRAB her relationship with Mark and so in time Mark starts seeing Rebecca anyway, before he and Bridget eventually get back together. So, Bridget and Mark are split up when it happens, but it's still not happy reading.
