Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason

I've not seen this at the cinema but it is out on DVD soon and I was wondering whether I should buy it. Is the film as good as the original or should I save my dosh? :)

I went to see it with a friend who loves Chick Flicks - I hate them, prefer action movies. I actually found it ghastly and embarrassing almost from beginning to end. The only bit that made me laugh was Daniel on the plane - " dirty dirty bitch ".
Bridget behaved throughout like a slightly backward 12 year old and was treated as such by Darcy. What man in his position as a high flying lawyer would want to be escorted to a posh do by a silly, pouting, whining, infantile scruff

The other film I hated equally was Love Actually - Cringingly sentimental and pretentious all the way through.
Excepting Bill Nighy who was ok :)

Honestly, I'd rent it. I liked the first one, this one made me want to commit murder. It's a replay of all the same jokes, Bridget Jones behaves like a slightly stupid 12 year old most of the time and becomes plain irritating after about 20 minutes. Given the choice between watching this again or sticking pins in my eyes, I'd be giving serious consideration to just how much the pins could hurt.

agree-the first one is one of my favourites but this was AWFUL and almost taints the first one with how bad it is.avoid like the plague or read the book instead which is actually good :)

Quite enjoyed it despite it having the same gag happening over and over again. That's the one where she walks into the room and lambasts 'Darcy' only to discover the he's in a business meeting............. blah blah. Thought the funniest bit was when she was in the Bangkok Hilton and all the other female prisoners were discussing their bastard menfolk and what they had done to them and she starts telling them how hers hadn't spoken to her properly at a party etc......

The film is not quite as good as the first, but it's not as bad IMO as the reviews suggested. I actually found the book to be dreary and quite irritating and was glad that

the film takes a different route and does not have Darcy sleep with someone else
