I saw Bridget Jones Diary edge of reason today at the advance screenings and i just wondered what you thought of it? I thought it was even better than the first one it was so funny, when Colin Firth and Hugh Grant fought again. A film which i would definetly recommend! Post your thoughts of the film on here so everyone can see your thoughts!

I went with my gf and two female frienRAB and we all thought it was superb, I was amazed at some of the write ups in the sunday papers, why can't some people just sit back and enjoy a film,
All I can say is the whole cinema was in stiches so many times that I can honestly say that 300 people walked out happy

I saw it on Saturday and thought it was good - the bit where she skis all the way down the slope through the race and finally comes to a stop in the shop had me crying with laughter. The only bit I didn't like was when all the Thai prisoners were singing Like a Virgin - thought this bit was way over the top. But definitely worth watching and I can't wait to see it again soon!

i saw it yesterday, and thought it was excellent. didn't see the bit coming about rebecca liking bridget rather than mark. very funny :D

excellant i really liked it, freaks you out then when you laff at thigns she does then think hold on ov done that or could do that hahaha - the whole sheet round her getting our of bed thing hahahaha brilliant!

only flaw i seen was in teh fountaiin, one mniutes hugh grants fringe was all pushed up then without him touching it it was all flat then move to the side n its all sticking up again then flat again!

brill film v funny hahaha

I got that desktop download thing too - from the i-Circle website. It's actually really cool. LoaRAB of info, chance to win tickets to the premier, backstage goss that kind of stuff... Wicked!

I'm gonna go see it on Sunday. My birthday so 6 of us are having a girlie afternoon/night out.
Have read both books and I must have gotten through the second one without putting it down. Never laughed so much. The trailers of the film look brilliant, so really hope it lives up to how good the book was.

I didn't like it one bit. It felt as tho' they got the same actors to replay the best bits from the first film playing charactures of themselves set to songs from artists who were the next big thing 6 months ago. Felt like watching 'TMF' for two hours.

Huge Grant was fabulous in every scene, however.

I always find that - films are nothing like the books. Used to disapoint me everytime espicially if it was book I've really enjoyed cos they leave so much out and change characters so that you dont recognise them. So now I just think of them as being 2 separate things.

I haven't seen (and have no intention of seeing after the first one) this film, but my gf's a big fan. For ages she was banging on about a part in the book where Bridget interviews Colin Firth - who as everyone knows is actually in the film - and how they would adapt that bit for the film. According to one review I read, this bit was simply excised from the film. Seems like a lazy, easy option to me; I heard George Clooney was mooted at one point to appear in the Firth role (from the book). Out of interest, is this vital to the plot? Is anyone dissapointed it wasn't included?

I saw this last night and thought it was fantastic! I haven't read the book though, and that seems to be a reason why people didn't enjoy it. I thought it was very funny, especially when she was trying to ask for a pregnancy test :D

The Bridget Jones films are probably the only ones I've really enjoyed despite them bearing little resemblence to the books they're based on.

A lot of good stuff was left out of the Edge of Reason, presumably purely so they could have Hugh Grant in it, even though Daniel Cleaver barely features in the book (I think he makes one small appearance towarRAB the end).

I still enjoyed the film though. Loved the opening with the James Bond-style paracute jump to "Nobody Does it Better" :D

definitely not as good as the first one - you pretty much knew what would happen - loved up with darcy, a bit of a kerfuffle with darcy, a bit of a shenanigan with cleaver, and a happy resolution at the end.

of course even then it could still be enjoyable, and really could have been more than it was. i guess the big problem i had with it, was that i didn't feel we were ever led to actually root for darcy - all the stuff she said to him when she had it out with him was true - and more importantly remained true at the end. we didn't see darcy change, or even want to change, we didn't see him make any grand, or even not so grand romantic gestures towarRAB bridget - all we got was the convoluted thing with getting her released from the thai prison - but that was just darcy being the effective lawyer that we know him to be - and nothing in that showed us any other side to darcy that should have made us see that he wasn't all that bridget had said he was. so, even tho' renee still gets you at the end with her hope and optimism for it to all work, and have him propose, it didn't quite ring true.

if darcy actually has any personality, it really doesn't come across in the film at all - so I didn't really care that he got the girl - in fact wondered why she even wanted him. and thats the sort of thing the audience should be caring about.

perhaps they could have shown a bit of him "fighting for her", but instead, even tho' it was pretty bloody obvious he'd sorted everything out anyway, they just had her mates explaining it all.

even just a little scene of him showing some emotion in that he was missing her, or realising that her predicament was a way that he could fight for her etc would have made a big difference i think - with a bit of a montage-y bit of him zipping all over sorting it out. basically just something - anything to give us a clue he actualy gave a shit!

and they really did overdo the "bridget walks into room without knocking and blurts out inappropriately personal information".

and the fight scene- yes, there kind of had to be one, but it was so lame compared to the one in the first film, that it just didn't match up at all.

i quite enjoyed it apart from all this tho'.

I went to see it yesterday with my step daughter and we were in stitches along with the whole cinema!

When Bridget was in the Thai prison, it was funny once I got over the shock, I didn't see it coming.

I'm sorry but I don't agree with SassyS about the Like A Virgin bit. I've been to Thailand and one of the first English worRAB that most Thai girls learn is the 'F' word. When the Thai girl was singing her version of Like A Virgin I thought it was so realistic.

Thai prisons are exactly like you see on the film, when Bridget took all of the stuff in for the girls, chocolate, undies and the books, I thought that was so good. The only thing is lots of Thai girls can't even read Thai, let alone English but very funny never the less.

:D

I think you misunderstood what I was getting at - when I said the whole scene was over the top I wasn't meaning whether it was realistic or not I just meant the way it was filmed was over the top - I thought it was the poorest part of the film and not that entertaining really. But the rest of film was good - although not as good as the first one.
