Brewsky 8900 - Easy to use ring tone/wallpaper manager for Audiovox 8900

I can't manage to get the program to recognize my phone. I start it and the progress bar never moves. I have a Verizon phone. Does anyone have any help that they can offer to me? Please...!!

I have an 8900, and a curtiel usb cable. I connect the phone and usb cable to my xp computer, it indicates a good connection in the task bar (bottom right) everything looks good in the device manager. It assigned it com 3, I chose com 3 in brewsky 8900 and press connect. It says port open, but that's it...I can never get further than this point. I pressed the get it now, and had that running, in both cases no luck. I took the battery out, i believe that restarts the phone to make sure, but again nothing. Please help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I loaded the usb serial driver. I can send commands
to the phone such as atdt5085551212, the phone will dial out in data mode, but... brewsky does not work.
In other words I can use hyperlink as a terminal program and access the phone on the com port that I know it's on. COM4. I configure brewsky and
does not work. It's not breskys fault, I looks like some
AT commands are disabled. Or... is it possible that
we have to force DCD down in order to send commands? Here's why I ask. Under linux the acm driver loads and I can map the proper serial device to the acm device. I can echo comaands like atdt to the phone and get it to dial in data mode just as in windows, but I can't send any other commands. I can't get minicom to work with it with any baud rate.

Has anyone had any luck? Is there a code I have to send to the phone beforehand/:hit:

ok, i'm sure youve all heard this problem a million times. HAS ANYONE FOUND A SOLUTION? i'm using an audiovox 8900 with the curitel drivers on a ebay cable. the brewsky says it connects on ANY port. but will not upload or download anything from the phone. the progress bar NEVER moves. PLEASE AIM ME @ budz0r if you have any information on how to make this work! i will paypal you money if you can fix this problem!

WOW, if I had a nickel for everytime I heard "Curitel drivers & eBay" in the same sentence, I could probably retire...

I guess it goes without saying, that listing your carrier goes a long way towards ruling out problems, as well as whether you are using 15 USB hubs/connectors on your system, but anyhoo, assuming you have either Verizon, Cricket, or Telus.

Let's Start with the basics.... (in order)
  1. Make sure you are using one of the 3 above carriers. (or compatible)
  2. Remove all USB hubs from your system (if possible for this exercise)
a.) Connect the phone's USB data cable to one of the 2 USB ports in the back of your PC.
b.) Use com port 4 or 3 and try connecting.
  3. Try using a different USB data driver other than Curitel.
  4. Make sure your eBay cable is LG-4400 compatible as all Audiovox 8900 cables should be... and also make sure it is NOT the inline charging cable, which could burn out your handset.[/list=1]

I too have the ebay cuitel usb cable and drivers on the Telus Audiovox CDM-8900T. I am using only the usb connection on the front of my computer. I started using Bitpim, which was good enough, just not very user friendly or nice to look at, but for d/l pictures and messing with some wall papers and stuff, it was ok. Then I came across Brewsky 8900, and what a kewl looking program. It gave me access to my pictures no problem, but then I uploaded ringtones and did the reset that brewsky says I should. When I go to select it now and everytime it says "Please wait User Data is being restored..." and then resets... everytime. I went back into Brewsky and it would not access any data on the phone, but would say connected ok and trying to access anything would just show the progress bar not moving, no matter how long I wait. I went back into bitpim and deleted the ringtones from the folder, and I could go back into brewsky and it would work fine again, but I still cannot get into the ringtones on my phone (phone works fine otherwise ) without it resetting.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I did wrong, and how I may fix it? Also how I can upload ringtones to this phone. If someone could send me the "default_ringtone.txt and download_sound.txt" from thier phone and I uploaded it to my phone (beforr any new ringtones were uploaded, wondering if it got corrupted somehow) I would like to give it a shot. Also any luck finding any other dricers than the curitel? Thanks for any info

ok... I seem to have everything back to normal, good thing I had the files backed up,I just couldnt find them at first. But it would seem that neither Bitpim nor brewsky 8900 edit the db/*.txt files so the changes would show when looking on the phone or scramble them completely. Anybody now of a program to edit these files? thanks
