Because if you dont know what to do and you are attempting to breed fish, most of the time, they wont breed for you. You need the conditions to be right. And if you research, and find out what the conditions need to be, usually, you can handle the spawns and raise them (or feed them to something else).
With mammals, you just add a male and female and they do their own little thing for you. There are no conditions. As long as you can tell the difference between boy and girl (anyone should be able to...) and you keep them together, you will have a litter of whichever animal it was.
With fish, they arent easy to tell apart unless you research it. Its overall a bit more difficult. And if anyone manages to pull off a successful spawn, theyve done at least some sort of research.
Besides, I see adds in the classifieds and valley trader every day that people are giving away free puppies and kittens. Thats because no one wants them. The only time I see free fish is if something outgrew the tank that person has. And people will jump all over a free 12 inch fish. Puppies and kittens especially, there are so many of them, people recommend neutering the animals when you get them. Fish is a different story.
Thats my idea anyways. Im all against uneducated people breeding any animal. But if they do their research, its ok. The angelfish breeding question you read, if he just throws a few fish in the 30 gallon, they wont breed. Those arent prime conditions for them. They need the proper room, temperature, acidity, and such. Its not just add fish and wait.
