Breast feeding, possibly pregnant, but dont know when to test?

I am breast feeding our 5 month old exclusively and have a feeling I may be pregnant, I have a lot of symptoms which I cant put down to anything else. I dont know when to test as I haven't started my periods again, we are using contraception but I think it has failed us!
When shall I test?

Your VERY fertile after having a baby, i was told to use birth control and condoms. There are certain birth controls you can take while breast feeding.

since you haven't started having periods yet, i would test now. if it is negative, i would wait a week and test again. you could always talk to your doctor and maybe get a blood test (since they are more accurate anyway and detect earlier). good luck!

If I remember correctly, you go by what your cycle would have been, then test on what would have been your period date.

if you are already experiencing pregnancy symptoms then you should test.

i was told that a home pregnancy test wouldnt be as accurate after just having your babe. i suggest going to a doctor. but i also heard that breast feeding was a great birth control (or form of one) and since you use contraceptives.... it could be possible but... unlikely im guessing....
