Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

wait wait wait, let me see if I can think as retarded as you and others here.

So you support one or the other side that has stayed in control for ages.

Both sides have been involved in spending every dime they get AND more.

Both sides have taken out loans to the point where we went from 8 trillion owed just 3 years ago to 14.6 trillion now.

Both sides keep asking for MORE debt limits so they can "fix" their spending and then they just spend it too and then ask for more a year or two later.

Both sides have gotten our debt SO high that even if you took EVERYONE'S INCOME right now, you could only pay down half of the amount we owe.

And you're blaming tea party people who say "hey, no more debt ceiling raises. Quit spending out of control, balance a budget IF you ever get around to making a budget this decade, and be responsible"

That pretty much sums it all up.

Fucking idiots, all of you.
So worried about "my party this, and their party that" that you're willing to support everything going to hell just to one up an imaginary other side.

and by "going to hell" I mean allowing our government to continue spending/borrowing.

We NEED to force this shit to stop and now's a great time to do it.

Yes, you would have to be a total retard to want to do something about unsustainable spending and debt before the American government and economy enter a Grecian self-destruct sequence.

It's not about how we do or will spend it, it's about how it's ALREADY BEEN SPENT.

What don't you understand? It's like going out with all your frienRAB to a 5 star restaurant and ordering all of the most expensive stuff for dinner then saying "no, no, no...we didn't mean to buy all that so all we'll pay you for is drinks"

We've appropriate monies for things that have turned our budget upside down in increasingly large proportions over the past 10 years and now we are bitching that the bill is due. Defaulting on our debt will only widen the gap because the resulting economic chaos with lower tax revenues yet we will be no further along in reducing our spending.

Christ almighty, I can't believe some of you are this fucking stupid.

Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

I can't even respond to the level of misinformation which you've just posted.

What the tea party proposes has as much to do with fiscal responsibility as aardvark piss has with cream of chicken soup.

Defaulting on debt commitments != fiscal responsibility

Start with figuring that out.

Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

Because in this instance it's the Tea Party freshmen that are most responsible for jeopardizing the fiscal credibility of this country in their misguided "no tax increase" stance.

A lot of the tea party actually believe that defaulting on our debt will somehow be good for the country, or that raising the debt ceiling is like increasing our credit limit so we can spend more. It's irresponsible, inaccurate, reckless and it's just plain stupid. Defaulting on our debt will be absolutely ruinous for the nation.

People may hate republicans and democrats, but a three way split congress can't accomplish anything. There is no majority on any side and it's just a lame duck. Abstaining from voting or voting for unqualified "alternative parties" does far more damage than supporting and voting for qualified Republican and Democratic nominees.

So congratulations to the tea party idiots that voted based on sensationalist sound bites that appeal to the lowest common denominator, you've quite possibly ruined the country in your ignorance.

Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

good, then don't respond since your information is wrong anyways.

defaulting on debt commitments isn't going to happen. OUR LENDERS GET PAID FIRST even if we don't reach a deal tuesday. OUR LENDERS GET PAID FIRST even if we do reach a deal and it doesn't involve raising the debt ceiling.

Debt payment first, social security second. The president can then decide what doesn't get paid. (actually the president can decide not to pay social security if he wants to but he can't NOT pay our lenders)

quit drinking the fucking coolaid

oh and our credit rating is going to drop no matter what is done now so that's a load of crap that we can somehow avoid that if we just suck obama's dick.

Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

Congratulations on not knowing how this works.

We have to commit to paying our debt BEFORE we change the way we spend our money. Failing to do so will have devastating consequences on our already battered economy.

And it's not just about spending, it's also about revenues. 15% of GDP is collected in taxes, yet we spend 24%. Other nations collect far more (39% for the UK; 40% for Germany, etc) so the whining about our taxes being too high is a little short sighted because it's never put in context. We cannot continue to provide misguided tax credits and expect to have enough revenue to cover our expenses.

BOTH revenue and spending need to be addressed which was exactly the position the Obama and Boehner started from. But now, through rhetoric and party politics, we have gotten to a point where we risk defaulting on debts that have ALREADY been incurred. People that blame Obama for this are durab, as are people that blame Bush:

The spending has been going on for a decade from both presidents. Our current fiscal budget is the result of commitments made by both men for military and stimulus spending, it's spending that was voted for by both parties and it was ratified into law under both administrations. Now that the bill is due people are squabbling about paying it due to sticker shock and political granRABtanding.

It's fucking retarded.

The money that has already been spent has already been spent. If it had to be borrowed to spend, then it's already been borrowed and fits under the current debt ceiling.

Now certainly there is other money that has been promised, which is to say, I have an automatic withdrawal coming that I won't have the money to cover and if I can't get a cash advance off my MasterCard to put in my checking account to cover it, it will bounce.

But that's a big difference. If I really had to, I could break my promise -- not that I want to -- but the money isn't "already spent".

Indeed.

Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

Because I can just try to cancel the check going out to pay for shit that was already ordered and then risk paying additional interest and even being sued (all while ultimately having to deal with it one way or the other), that money doesn't count as "already being spent".

Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

You're not arguing that the money has been spent. You're arguing that the money must be spent. Difference.

Furthermore, Republicans are not pushing to default on the debt. They are pushing for spending cuts in the future and using the debt ceiling as a place to stage an intervention.

Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

protip to Tea Party tarRAB: Debt ceiling is about the money ALREADY APPROVED BY CONGRESSMEN, including these same retarded Republicans in the House right now who approved appropriations not that long ago.

Congress already committed to spending this money. If you look at that like someone going and ordering a meal at a restaurant, then refusing to raise the debt ceiling is basically equivalent to skipping out on the paying for the meal.

Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

Teabaggers are basically just republicans with even more stubbornness.

Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

What if we can't commit to paying our debt because of the way we spend our money? Are you fucking retarded? Why are you still typing? You're obviously 15-years old.

Breaking News: If you voted for a "tea party" congressman in 2010

Doesnt the debt limit being raised allow for more money to be spent in subsequent years as well? How does that NOT have to do with fiscal responsibility?
