The title infers that the 'Me' person (ie. the writer) is comparing himself to Maradona and Elvis, two famous people in their respected fielRAB (sports/music), but who squandered their talents on drugs or something of the like. In comparing himself to those two people, and singing about a drunken hook-up, he's saying that losing your life/talent to something so trivial is just as easy as a drunken hook-up...
That's the definition that I was spoonfed. Seems a bit farfetched but it also fits the tone of the song.
i agree that there first album was a rip off of taking back sunday but they've got themselves a awsum drummer!!!! thats probably what stood out most to me...
and dude, the misfits rule!!!!
I was really into these guys around 2003, really loved Deja Entendu. I think I'd moved on to other things by the time The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me came out. I did hear a few songs and they weren't bad but I never took the time to really listen to the album. This new song isn't really doing much for me at the moment. But again, I'm sure Deja Entendu took some listens to get into. And I was more single and emotional back then.
Does anyone have any knowledge on an upcoming album for Brand New? I know they released Fork And Knife, just one song, today, but they also said that it wasnt a part of anything. Any info would be appreciated.
Went to see 'Brand New' supporting Incubus last night in Birmingham UK. They ruled, and did a good set of songs. I wasnt expecting them to be so good at performing, but they were awesome!!!
The Devil and God really never grabbed me right away..but I love it just as much as Your Favourite Weapon and Deja. You should really give it some spins.
;2516']Brand New are my favourite band at the moment. They're soooo good. I was going to see them this year but I'm too busy studying to get to London. I really like 'Good Thing To Know That If I ever Need Attention All I Have To Do Is Die', 'No Seatbelt Song' and 'Seventy Times Seven' ...classssss
