I have a 1996 dodge dakota, automatic 4x4, i just replaced the brakes and the abs light has come on now. i drove to the store and now the brakes are smoking, does anyone know what the problem could be. thanks to all

it can be many things causing this to happen, one is did you have the drums and rotors turned or just replace the pads or shoes, secondly if the calipers do stick on it that to will cause it,but without seeing it i cant give you a direct answer to the exact cause of it,you,ll have to tear it back down now and start over with it,use a repair manual as a guide this might help you find the cause of that happening, the do have some helpful tips in them on that problem, good luck.

Simple answer, your calipers are probably locked up. Take them back off and use a C-clamp to see if you can push them in. If not you caliper is bad.

sounds like u put them on wrong.... either that or u broke teh as sensor wiring on 1 of the wheels and now its staying locked....either way take it apart and find out wats wrong......if u just drove it the problem wheel will b the hot 1....
