First of all is your brake light on? If so you may have other problems. if not, How much have you driven it since you replaced the pads? after replacing pads you should start your engine and pump up your breaks this will push the caliper cylinders and pads against the rotors and give them proper adjustment. did you use break cleaner fluid on your rotors to make sure there oil free? also its good to take a medium to course sandpaper and scuff the pads a bit. so pump them up and drive it a little safely and use the breaks often this may solve the problem.

I just replaced the brakepads on my van and now they don't want to work at all. When I start the vehicle and depress the brakes, there is no resistance. This is a new issue. I have to slam the brakes to the ground to come to a gradual stop. What could be wrong and how can I fix it?

Thank you in advance.
The brake light is not on. I have done everything you have mentioned. It almost feels like there is a leak somewhere that would be preventing the brake fluid from pushing the calipers.
I will try bleeding the lines in the morning. As of right now I have no light to work with. How would one get air in the lines.
