Brake Questions

I just had my brakes replaced in the front and had the mechanic put on Sintered brake pads which are supposed to be a little harder on the rotors than the stock but work better and squeal less. All of the above is true. However, at speeds over 25 mph I get this annoying whirring sound like the sound of cicadas. It seems to get deeper and more pronounced when I brake. The mechanic, who is very reputable, said that more than likely this is the new pads wearing in and the sound should diminish after a short time.

Has anyone else had this experience with sintered pads?

Yup. Let them break in a bit. If it doesn't stop, put a drop of high-temp brake grease on the pins, and use double-sides sticky brake shims from SBS. Sometimes it helps to slightly chamfer the edges of the pads also.

Sheesh I hope so, the buzzing is driving me nuts. Rides a lot nicer with new meat on the tire and progressive springs. I can actually it a speed bump at 15 mph without being thrown forward from the forks compressing.
