Brake light was staying on

The other day I was riding around and noticed that my cruise control would not work. I began searching the forums and read that it could be a brake switch. Sure enough, my brake light was staying on. Later that night I checked it again and it worked. I remembered that it happened once before. The next day, I took it to my local dealer and described my problem and told them that it has happened before. I got a call later that it was ready and aS told that everything pointed to my bright ass light brake light, which I know is not the case because when my light stayed on and I mashed the brake I never heard the relay click. I then asked the service man if they sell the bright ass light at their parts department and he stated," yes." I then asked if they have ever seen the light create this problem before and he stated," no." he then proceeded to tell me that I was overdue for my 10,000 mile service and I explained that I already did it. He said,"oh, you do it yourself? Well, you forgot to change your spark plugs." the whole way to get my bike I was thinking that I didn't remember my manual showing that I needed to replace the plugs. I got the bike and got two plugs to the tune of $11 or $12. I went home and looked at my manual and saw that they didn't need to be replaced. Not a good first experience for service at my local HD with this bike. My gut feeling tells me that it was a relay or the rear brake pressure switch. When the bike cooled down the light switch worked.

Not sure about your service department but I had the same problem with the rear brake switch. $21 part that took 5 minutes to replace. Had to bleed the rear brake after and that is easy also. Search for Troubleshooting Cruise Control in this forum. It had a great response on how to troubleshoot the problem.

Thanks for your response, however, even at $20, it should be a warranty fix. I went on a 2000 mile trip since then and the light stayed on once. Also, the first gas stop of the trip I started looking at my front tire and saw that it was cupping. The tire began to sound like a super swamper. I felt vibrations in turns as well. Not a good tire to have on the tail of the dragon. Anyway, I decided to give another local dealer a try for the light switch, and now front tire. I went to Adamec HD on Baymeadows road and explained my problems. I also mentioned a seepage out of the front brake reservoir. They were able to get my bike to the back in about 30 minutes. I waited patiently thinking that I would have the same outcome as the last service department on the light switch and that they would pro-rate me for tire wear. They replaced everything under warranty and washed 2000 miles of grime off. I am a very happy rider and will be dealing with them from now on.

I have a stuck brake light too, but mine happens with either front or rear brake and only happens when hot, once the bike cools down it works normally again. Here's the thread I have going. I'll be replacing the relay today just to see if the easy cheap fix might do the trick.
