brake light out on honda civic?

one brake light is out..the soft light still works, and the other passenger side works fine. thought it might just be the bulb...replaced it, doesnt work. played with the wires and stuff thinking it might be a short in the wires, but didnt even flicker on when brake was pressed. i know its something stupid and simple im not thinking of but any help would be appreciated. thanks.
 
If you have a test light you can check for power at the bulb socket when the brake pedal is pressed if you have power then you probably have the wrong bulb
