Braces and Retainers :/

lmao, thats the worst thing you could do to a guy with a metal mouth. But it's a good tip if i run into an asshole with braces.Solution:punch him in the mouth, lmao

I had braces for almost 2 years, and an expander, and herbst(moves the lower jaw forward) for about 9 months. It sucked, and I have to get braces again in April for I duno how long.

As for pain, take Advil or Tylenol for the first couple days after you get them adjusted and eat soft foods (soup is good, soft crackers like Club crackers, etc) and after that he will be fine to eat normals food again.

For the first week after he gets the braces on he will feel like shit, just keep him on Advil and Tylenol and he will be fine.

Not the same one, this guy is some kind of mechanical engineer in North Carolina now.
Thing was about this guy, early on we were friends, back in 7th grade.
End of 8th grade after he started falling under the control of "Cult of the yard line"; he was giving me the cold shoulder.
Finally the last day of 8th grade (with his buddies egging him on) he started shit with me. So, I decided that I wasn't going to let him use me as his initiation into jock hood.
Looking back on it I can laugh, but at the time it really sucked, to have to fight this guy I used to be friends with. I didn't even think I was going to be able to hit him (never was a particularly violent person), but once he landed that first punch, my conscience was absolved. Figured he wasn't going to hold back kicking my ass.

BTW, Don't fight, it's not cool, and it leads to more problems.

G's...i would get a second opinion on getting your son on braces that early...i was told that anywhere from 9 to 15 is young..usually 16 to 18 is the best to get them since they dont move around, with one developing and becoming an adult.... have all his baby teeth come out? i had a friend who had them when he was that young..and had to get them again when he was like 19..cuz they had shifted..moved around n shit...anyways....

..this is as normal as it was for me...first off tho..everyone is different..and it depends on the orthodontist[sp?] you go too and his methods...for me it was the spaces in the back..for the bridge....for about two weeks...that was one of the most painfull things ive ever gone through....like i said it just depends on how your kid takes it....everyones diff. ya know? anyways..then its the brackets on the teeth...that kinda cuts the inside part of your lips and cheeks for about a good two to three weeks....then the wiring.....that not too bad..unless one of the wires comes off loose at the end...towards the back molar part...then that shit goes right in you...its a very thin gauge..id say 22 or 24 gauge..anyways.....who ever said the pain was for only the first two weeks.....is bullshittin ya...the pain is there for two or three days after they tighten them...i would always hord up on food right afterwards....then i wouldnt eat anything for two days....ok i would eat ..but very lightly...prolly the most painful ordeal was when they take them off....i thought theyd use some sort of solvent for the glue...but they dont...they just snap them off....i had tears rolling down the sides of my face, laying there.....it hurts so fuckin bad....but it was all well worth it...as for the retainers...they dont hurt unless you stop wearing them.....and go back...i hadnt worn mine in almost two years...it sucks..

To those who don't wear your removable retainers -- if you stop doing that shit your teeth could potentially fall out of that nice perfect alignment and guess what? back to fucking braces. That's worst case scenario though.

I just got my permanent retainer out a few months ago because apparantly I have plaque build up and the dentist reccommended I get a removeable one...

Anyway I know it sucks wearing it but I just wear it at night...the orthodontist said it'd be fine if I did that so. If I had to wear it during the day it would as much fun as having food caught in your braces the whole day. I have a weird lisp and stuff when I wear the damn thing.

But I just remember "wear the retainer or you could mess up the straight teeth that took a ridiculous amount of time to straighten...and if you mess this up son, I'll kill you" ...

I had braces from 8th grade up to 10th grade and I have been out of school for 2 years. I wore my retainer for a little while then decided not to wear it any more. I found out if you don't wear it then your teeth begin to shift and move so when you go to wear it again a year later it will not fit right because you teeth are not in the same place as they were when you got fitted for it.

me and my brother both got braces at the same time, i got mine off about 3 or 4 months ago never wore the retainer , but my brother wasnt as lucky as i, he took them off himself the other day, now his teeth look hideous with all the glue and shit all over them.

but yeah, if my teeth started spreading or going crooked, id probably get braces again, they really didnt bother me that much
