Saying this well will ruin the ocean is like saying the flow from the mississippi river will desalinate the ocean

stupid question but... couldnt they drill another well close to the vicinity of the damaged well in order to release pressure, then plug up the hole?
 
if its spewing 40,000bbl's/day and they're capturing 15,000 thats 25,000/day leaking into the GOM. I kinda wonder if the actual rate of the leak now that the riser has been cut off is closer to 80 or 100k bbl's day. I say that because BP's internal documents AFE'd the well at approximately 100,000 barrels per day
