BP Oil Leak:The real reason they aren't stopping the leak. Damage below the sea floor

a strong hurricane could actually help the situation by vastly dilluting the oil and breaking it up so that microbials can break it down
 
i like that american mentality though, 'oh there's a hole in the ocean floor', "yeah lets nuke it"
 
wow, fucked up. 55 days into an ecological disaster and we've completely dropped the ball as a nation
 
My dad was like "If they get it capped, throw a bunch of detergent in the gulf and let the hurricane take care of cleaning it up"

leak until its out? are you serious? this was thought to be one of the biggest finds in decades with 40 to 60 BILLION barrels of recoverable oil. That would mean that as much as 4 to 6 billion barrels could spew from this well.

While this is one cavity of oil it does not generally affect any other cavities. The earth is not all linked. Sure it might be linked to a couple others. If this just keeps going it may make a tiny dent in the world oil volume but not much.

and yeah generally it would just leak out but with most oil wells they pump it up to keep volume force. There isn't any real telling how the pressure here will be affected over time. (how long it takes for some of the pressure to be gone and slow down the seepage)
