TS is quoting the Examiner, which is like quoting the Enquirer for facts.
 
The only people complaining are the ones using IE. Otherwise Adblock would have caught it and no one would notice.
 
Quick primer on buying keywords for search.

Let's say you are AT&T and want to direct people to your site when people are searching the term "new cell phones". You purchase that keyword term, as does all of your competitors (and some secondary players in the market) so that your listing turns up in the "Sponsored Links" section of the search. Whether or not you show up when someone searches for you, depends on how much you bid. If you bid the most and your daily budget cap can support it, you will be the first listing within the "Sponsored Links".

Note that this is totally different than the organic search listings. Those listings are there based on SEO algorithms, Google quality scores, and other forms of voodoo.
