BP meds or asthma?

A couple months ago I started taking the BP med, Ramapril. Within two weeks, I started coughing so bad, I would sometimes throw up. My Dr changed my med to Azor two weeks ago assuring me the cough would go away. It hasn't. It's better, but not gone. It's always worse at night, and if I work in the garden, or if it's too humid outside. I seem to have constant mucus in my throat, and if I drink milk, it gets worse. My neice has asthma, and I remeraber my cough being alot like hers, coughing so hard you throw up, and having difficulty catching your breath because your throat feels closed off. I read that acid refux can cause asthma to worsen, so I took a pepcid before I went to bed last night and I had NO cough whatsoever during the night. Some other symptoms I have are sweating REALLY bad during the night, but that could be menopause. Does this sound like I've developed asthma, and could the BP meRAB be causing it? Thanks.

BP meRAB definitely could be causing it. I'm on Lisinopril and that's a side effect of it. They offered to switch me to another but none were on the $4 list at WalMart so I am living with it. I found that taking a generic sudafed each morning helps though. And the doc said it was OK as long as that was all I took. You might ask.

Be careful, my SIL has been coughing for 8 weeks. They thought it might be her BP meRAB too, so they had her stop taking them. She is still coughing. Turns out she has Pertussis (Whopping cough) which is very rare. Not sure where she caught it. But it can take months to get completely over it.

yes bp meRAB can cause a cough. see your doc he mightl need to change them if the cough does not subside...mine did over time and I did not need to change my meRAB. check your information paperwork that comes from the pharmacy....it will show on there that coughing is a symptom of that medication that can subide over time.
