Bouquet of Barbed Wire ITV 1

There's an award for bad sex scenes in literature and those two scenes definitely deserved a tv prize. :(

Jemma Rooper said you bruised my thighs . Don't think so ! Maybe she hurt them on the sharp table edge instead because ol' Trev seemed to be barely moving.

Unlike in the other scene :o Prue 's back and bott would have had imprints of the mattresss for days after all that gymnastic bouncing around with Gavin.

I wondered at the time why they didn't just call it the 'Electra Cmplex' and have done with it. I was 21 in that sweltering summer,
and the heat all around really added to the atmospere. Friday nights it was always on.
'Another Bouquet' the next summer lost something in impact.

I watched the original and enjoyed it and even though I already liked Frank Finlay I totally agree. I called him the 'walking wardrobe' in this. Underacting honed to perfection - not.

I can only seem to recall Gavin punching Prue in the woods after she tells Cassie that Peter is having an affair with Sarah. Well it was more like "Mummy, did you know daddy was screwing his secretary in our house?"

Wasn't that when we discovered Prue was pregnant

The pits. Hilariously, cretinously, nonsensically bad and nasty. None of these blithering, self-absorbed caricatures could ever exist, even in alternative universes. Wasn't there at least some T&A in the original to relieve the mind-congealing awfulness of the plotting, script and cod psychology?

Outstandingly the best thing about this desperate hour was a car insurance commercial with Nigel Mansell and Omid Djalili. And that includes the acting.

Apologies HALibutt - a grinning smiley might have given me a clue! Not knowing you it seemed as if you'd missed the point. It seems t'was I that missed the point. :(

Good grief - you certainly pay for something that has cult status - I thought I might see if Amazon did the original boxed set and it's a couple of pennies short of

They would only have attracted a small fraction of the audience though, as loads of people only tuned in on the strength of the reputation of the original series.

IMO I think the two of them are great actors. :-) don't rate the girl who is playing the daughter though. Haven't seen the original. I wish it was reshown however as I can't compare it with the original I have to say I'm really enjoying it. Looking forward to next weeks episode.

Me too. I loved this, it was so moody and powerful, ahead of its time and I'd never seen anything like it before - it certainly opened my 14 year old eyes back then! Was some of the early series in black and white? That's how I remember it and that added to the atmosphere and intensity.

I never understood why it wasn't repeated as it would have stood up just as well today. I'll be interested to see what they've done with it though. Anything with Trev in is usually pretty good (although I don't think he could possibly be as creepy as Frank Finley) and if it works it'll make for some great viewing. :)
