hi everyone,
i went to a new neorosurgeon yesterday and he had ask me to try botox injections into my lower back to help with the pain i am in. he said i would have to go to a pain management doctor for the injections. he said its new but its proven to help with pain? just wondering if anyone has heard of this or has had the injections and if it had helped at all. thank you

Hi,

I've never had it done myself, but I have heard of it being done, where they inject it into your back muscles to try relieve back spasms. But I am not sure if it would help any other type of pain, such as nerve pain. I would doubt it, only because if you have, say, sciatica, that stems from inside your spine, not your muscles. Then the spasms in the back muscles are a reaction to the nerve compression in your spine. But, of course, I do not know much about this whole treatment. This is just my personal thinking.

thank you for the reply. i have been looking on the internet and it does sound like its for muslce spasms. i am having more sciatica pain i think than back pain i think unless the sciatica is covering the back pain so i dont think that will help ne much. but i thought i would post it so if there is someone else who could benifit from it that they could ask there doctor about it. take care and thanks again
