I think I have been on another planet, All of a sudden this dude called Borat is the biggest thing ever, He is everywhere, Whats up with it? Im lost completely.

You've heard of Ali G?

The guy who does Ali G also does a character called Borat, who featured in a couple of his Ali G series over the past few years.

Because of Borat's funny and controversial humour, the character has been made into a film.

As with most comedy characters, I guess you either find Cohen's Borat character funny or not. I find him hilarious, and didn't fins the Ali G character remotely funny. It's all different strokes, I guess.

^ Interesting observation. Alf Garnett was vile.

Anyway, Borat was on Jonathan Ross tonight. They fondled each other - seriously! He was funny, but only in a slightly novel "I'll get tired of this soon" way.

The Borat character has actually been around for years. Make's jokes about Jews even though the comedian who plays Borat is actually Jewish himself.

Very funny man.

Comparing him to Alf Garnett, very bizarre, some people should not watch comedy in fact the should not watch anything.

Calm down RAB.

Borat is brilliant, but he might have jumped the shark. The essence of Borat originally was his naivity and the fact the (although remote) it was almost believable that he could exist, be a reporter for his country and say some of his comments cause of his naivity.

Now, he is just not so naive and I don't think as funny.

I must admit i loathe Ali G and don't find him funny atall. I also don't find Borat funny but i saw some clips of the film and i am extremely tempted to go and watch it.

Alf Garnett was a device to ridicule bigots. Borat is a device to ridicule bigots. Both have been seen as straightforward cases of bigotry themselves by people who've missed the point. They're both played by Jewish actors. Oh and they both have comedy moustaches.
