Boot camp for mac Problems?

I know that The Boot Camp Assistant makes free space on the Macbook HD, but when I run the assistant and try to format 5 GB, it gives me an error saying It can't run First Aid. What does that mean, and how can i fix this so it will work? (Please no reinstalling software unless completely necessary)
Tried, said it was out of room.
 
The disk utility program (First Aid) requires you to have the original MacOS X DVD inserted in the disk drive and have restarted the Mac while holding down the "c" key, to get the full capabilities of it. I'd try that. You won't be installing any thing, just using the app on the DVD.
